Knole Academy Go-Ahead
Sevenoaks MP Michael Fallon has welcomed the government’s decision to give the go ahead to the new Knole Academy. The Schools Minister wrote to Mr Fallon yesterday, announcing the funding commitment. “It’s been a long wait but this gives pupils, staff and parents the certainty they need. Obviously there won’t be a new single site building until September 2012 but that’s just over two years away, and the funding is now committed. We can now look ahead to a new type of schooling in fit-for-purpose accommodation. I have previously stressed to the management group my hope that single-sex teaching can be retained as long as possible within certain subject areas. The school will also be very large, so a thorough system of pastoral care will be needed to ensure that younger pupils don’t feel overwhelmed.”
