The Sevenoaks Constituency stretches from west to north Kent. It includes the towns of Sevenoaks and Swanley, as well as Westerham and many traditional Kent villages such as Seal, Shoreham and Otford.
Sevenoaks itself is an historic market town which has good rail links to London and is popular with London commuters. In recent years the town centre has been sympathetically developed to provide new shopping. The fine historic house of Knole, once home to Vita Sackville-West, is one of the town's major tourist attractions.
Swanley is to the north of Sevenoaks, a short journey from Juncton 3 of the M25. The town centre here has recently been upgraded and the town library is a popular facility for local people. Swanley also has good rail links to London.
Westerham has an important history as home to General Wolfe, and has many links with Britain's great war leader, Winston Churchill, whose home Chartwell is nearby.
Along the Darenth Valley are the charming villages of Otford, Shoreham, Eynsford and Farningham as well as Lullingstone Castle and the Lullingstone Roman Villa.
Most of the Sevenoaks constituency is in the Green Belt: inappropriate development is a key local issue.
Following the recent Boundary Commission review, three villages which are currently in the Dartford constituency- Fawkham, Horton Kirby and South Darenth - will be added to the Sevenoaks constituency at the next general election.
