{"id":1234,"date":"2016-05-25T09:50:32","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T09:50:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/?p=1234"},"modified":"2016-05-25T10:01:06","modified_gmt":"2016-05-25T10:01:06","slug":"michael-hails-right-decision-on-grammar-school-admissions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/?p=1234","title":{"rendered":"Michael Hails &#8216;Right Decision&#8217; on Grammar School Admissions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-540 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/weald-of-kent.jpg\" alt=\"weald of kent\" width=\"160\" height=\"90\" \/>Michael has welcomed the decision by Weald of Kent Grammar School not to exclude parts of his constituency from its 2017 admissions policy.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement made last night means that areas such as Westerham, Crockham Hill and Brasted will all now be included in &#8216;Category A&#8217; of the Oversubscription Criteria.\u00a0 The proposed changes, which were due to come into force in time for the opening of the new grammar school annexe in Sevenoaks, would have led to pupils from these areas having a lower chance of admission to the school.\u00a0 The school will next consult for the 2018 Admission Policy.<\/p>\n<p>Michael\u00a0raised his concerns with the school as part of the recent consultation process. \u00a0He\u00a0said: &#8220;This is the right decision by Weald of Kent.\u00a0 It is vital that the places at our new annexe go to local pupils.\u00a0 My constituents across Sevenoaks will now have access to a grammar school education for their children, regardless of where they live.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michael has welcomed the decision by Weald of Kent Grammar School not to exclude parts of his constituency from its 2017 admissions policy.
