{"id":631,"date":"2015-02-03T12:44:54","date_gmt":"2015-02-03T12:44:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/?p=631"},"modified":"2015-02-05T11:39:30","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T11:39:30","slug":"network-rail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/?p=631","title":{"rendered":"Network Rail Act on MP&#8217;s Advice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/network-rail.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-640\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/network-rail.jpg\" alt=\"network rail\" width=\"140\" height=\"58\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Network Rail have written to Michael Fallon MP following his visit to London Bridge Station\u00a0to confirm that they will be\u00a0acting on several changes which he has been calling for. \u00a0Michael said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing my deep concerns about capacity on platforms 1 and 2, Network Rail have assured me that they will be demolishing two of the buildings on the platforms to make extra room for passengers. \u00a0Additionally, they have extended the canopy on platform 1 to encourage passengers to use the full length of the platform.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_663\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-663\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Southeastern-014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-663\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelfallon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Southeastern-014-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"London Bridge Station\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-663\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">London Bridge Station<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cChanges to passenger information have also been put in place with additional information screens installed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI welcome Network Rail acting after my visit and I will be continuing to monitor the situation at London Bridge very closely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>__________________________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><em>9th January 2015<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Michael met managers from Network Rail today to discuss commuters concerns regarding the London Bridge Station closure and the proposed new Otford railway crossing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Fallon MP said: \u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Network Rail have apologised for the recent overcrowding at London Bridge station and the ensuing disruption. \u00a0The train drivers should have been better informed and trained to cope with the new lay-out. \u00a0I have insisted that they also improve the clarity and authority of passenger announcements, and move people more rapidly to less crowded areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe face nearly two years of disrupted travel.
