Rt Hon Sir Michael Fallon KCB,<\/strong> the former Defence Secretary, retired from Parliament at the last election after 31 years as MP for Darlington and then Sevenoaks.\u00a0 He served as a minister in four Conservative governments under Margaret Thatcher, John Major, David Cameron and Theresa May.<\/p>\r\n

As Secretary of State for Defence from 2014 to 2017 he led the UK’s contribution to the Coalition against the Daesh; he began the British Army training of Ukrainian forces after the invasion of Crimea and launched the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).<\/p>\r\n

Sir Michael is chairman of Aberdeen Investcorp Infrastructure Partners (AIIP<\/a>);\u00a0 senior adviser (aerospace and defence) at BlueFive Capital, non-executive chairman, Avanton Limited<\/a> (property development);\u00a0 adviser to Nova Innovation Ltd<\/a> (renewable energy) and consultant to other companies in the security and infrastructure sectors.<\/p>\r\n

Sir Michael is a member of the Advisory Board of the Council on Geostrategy<\/a>;\u00a0a UK member of the Indo-Pacific Commission<\/a> chaired by former Canadian PM Stephen Harper at Policy Exchange<\/a>; and an advisory council member of the Centre for Policy Studies<\/a>.\u00a0 He writes, lectures and broadcasts on defence, security and international affairs (see here<\/a>).\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em>He also reviews<\/a> books on classics and ancient history for Classics For All<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

He is President of the Friends of St Mary’s Church, Sundridge<\/a>.\u00a0 He served as President of the Royal Society for Blind Children<\/a> from 2010 to 2024.<\/p>\r\n
